Outreach 8/20

Each Friday we go to a village for outreach. Each outreach consists of a few things... Teaching, devotional, pr@yer and prenatal checks. Yesterdays outreach was VERY busy! I'm not sure how many prenatal checks we did, but most of them were initials.
I helped Kayla(she's a second year students and my roommate) with the checks she was doing. The first mama was really sweet. She had two little girls already. They were maybe about 2 and 4.

I AM

I was regretting the past
and fearing the future.
Suddenly my Lord was speaking!
"My name is I AM!"

He paused.
I waited. He continued.

"When you live in the past
with mistakes and regrets,
it is hard. I Am not there.
My name is not I WAS.

When you live in the furture
with it's problems and fears
it is hard. I AM not there.
My name is not I WILL BE.

When you live in this moment
it is not hard. I AM here.
My name is I AM!"

Living by Promise

Cling to the promise of provision.
You said.
So I cling.
I will provide for your needs.
You said.
So I wait.
I will not let you down.
You said.
So I trust.

Living on support is not easy. Hardly a day goes by when I don't worry about how I will pay for one thing or another. But somehow God always provides. As I have been worrying about money again throughout this week, God has been bringing up many passages about Him providing. Yesterday it was a verse that is taped to some shelves in my room. I'd been meaning to read it for a few days, but for some reason I hadn't yet, even though I get things from it every day. Today it was a verse taped to the wall in the postpartum room at the clinic. Earlier in the week it was a passage I read in my quiet time. I know that God will provide because He has promised me He will. So, I will cling, I will wait and I will trust.

The Miracle of Life

What a beautiful thing it is to see a new little life come into this world!

This morning Crystal and I had planned to go walking early in the morning before it got hot. We met downstairs around 6:30, both of us excited to go. But not too long before that a woman in labor had come to the clinic. B-lyn thought mama was ready to push, so we stayed. And what a great thing to miss a walk for! :D
At 7:04 a little baby girl entered this world! And I was there to see it!! :D Oh! What a perfect, beautiful baby she is. Below are a few pictures, though they don't do her justice.

Isn't she just beautiful?

जय हिंद - Jai Hind

Jai Hind  जय हिंद "Victory to India" or "Long live India"

Today 63 years ago India gained it's independence from over 200 years of British rule. I just wanted to take a moment today to share a couple of videos and pictures.

Happy Independence Day India!!!

Tokyo to Manila

I’m sitting in the Tokyo airport waiting for my flight to Manila. The waiting area is filled mostly with Japanese and Filipino people. As I’m listening to the different languages, the husband of the woman sitting next to me brings another gentleman up to her and excitedly introduces him. I can tell from the greeting that he is an old acquaintance. They have two daughters and they begin talking about them, maybe about how big they’ve gotten since the last time he saw them.
The lady in front of me is talking to two men. It seems that they are discussing something that maybe she doesn’t agree on.
As I sit here my thoughts turn to wondering. What will life be like in the Philippines? What will the people be like? What do everyday interactions look like? Do men and woman usually interact pretty freely together? What kind of behavior is expected from small children? What kind of behavior will be expected of me?
I am excited to start this new journey of learning and discovery.
I’m hoping that I’ll do better about keeping this blog updated.
